New Orleans tours without spending all day on a bus
If you do not want a seven- or eight-hour combination day, you still have plenty of choices: river cruises, city sightseeing, walking tours, and shorter swamp options can give you a real experience without turning the day into a long transport itinerary.

Stay in or near the French Quarter
The 75-minute CITY riverboat, two-hour NATCHEZ sightseeing cruise, two-hour Ghosts & Spirits walk, and two- to 2.5-hour cocktail walks keep the outing concentrated downtown.
Leave town without giving up the whole day
Transported swamp options are listed around 3 hours 45 minutes. Self-drive swamp products can be shorter at the attraction itself, but you must provide your own transportation to Lafitte.
What counts as an “all-day” tour here?
The current Gray Line swamp + plantation combination is listed at 7 hours 45 minutes. Southern Style’s city + plantation combination on our catalog is about eight hours. Those are valid choices when you want a full excursion day, but they are not the only way to see Louisiana beyond the Quarter.
Best compromise for many visitors
Pick one substantial experience instead of combining two: either a swamp outing, a plantation visit, or a city tour. That usually preserves enough of the day for meals, wandering, music, and the unplanned parts of New Orleans that are easy to lose when every hour is scheduled.
